[link] News Herbert Nitsch was given the prestigious title of The Deepest Man on Earth, when he set the current world record for free-diving at an incredible depth of 214 metres in 2007. As one of the spearheads of free-diving today, Herbert intends to push the limits even further by becoming the first breath-hold athlete to break the 300- metre barrier. How can such an extraordinary challenge be undertaken when the physiological limitations of human performance at such depths remain unknown? Beyond Limits is a digital 3D feature length documentary by the writer/director Alexandro Abela about Herbert and his endeavour to find solutions that will enable him to descend to 300 metres. The budget of the film is estimated to reach 2.2 million Euro. Herbert is about to take us on a trip to Dean’s Blue Hole in the Bahamas archipelago to the forgotten wreck of the Titanic’s sister ship resting at the bottom of the Aegean Sea, from the Alp’s icy lakes to Japan’s mystifying Yonaguni monument in the East China Sea. The film will follow Herbert’s odyssey across the world as he makes history by asserting himself as the greatest free-diver of all time. The movie is expected to be out in May 2010. The duration of the digital 3-D theatrical release will be full 90 minutes whicl the 3-D IMAX version will be 40 mins. The DVD is expected to be between 90 and 120 minutes long. [link] |
